Dr Justin Janss lays out two very different morning scenarios in this most recent blog, he challenges us to experiment with our sleep and morning routines to yield benefits that last the rest of the day.

Let’s take a moment to reflect on two possible scenarios… The first is similar to the picture I painted last month. We wake up in the morning, irritated at the buzzing alarm. Throw in a couple (or 10) hits to the snooze button to soak in a few extra minutes of shut eye before our feet finally hit the floor and it's off to the races. We rush to the bathroom, then to the kitchen, frantically trying to throw the morning together, ultimately feeling like we are behind the eight ball, chasing our tail the whole rest of the day....

Ah, the start of a new school year. You've spent all summer relaxing and having fun with your kids, so it's understandable that you're feeling anxious about sending them back to the classroom and you may not be the only one who's anxious. With recent violence at schools, it's more than understandable for both parents and children to be anxious about returning to school. The uncertainty and all the what ifs are sure to increase the anxiety meters.

Here are my top tips for decreasing anxiety as we send kids back to school this month.

Our mind-body connection is very strong, and symptoms of our brain health does have an effect on our physical health. Spending adequate amounts of time with our clients allows us to discuss contributing factors which include mental health. Most often difficulties with our mental health are first mentioned to our primary care providers.

I was drawn to health coaching because as a nurse in the local hospitals, I felt this widening gap between information provided to patients and patients actually being able to absorb that information. It’s incredibly difficult to be handed a life changing diagnosis then one of two things happens; a stack of information about ways that may or may not be helpful to aid in that diagnosis or you are just sent on your way with a prescription.
