My background
My passion for holistic wellness was instilled in me since early childhood. I was raised in an environment of attachment parenting and was shown by example the importance of lifestyle and diet from an early age. My mother incorporated massage, reflexology, and reiki into our everyday routines and wellness strategies. Didn’t everyone’s mom do energy work on them for headaches, growing pains, and emotional breakups?! After graduating from nursing school at the University of Iowa (with co-founder, Kara), I started my nursing career in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (where co-founder Sarah, psych provider Danielle, and nurse Kala all worked!). This shaped my early nursing foundation with a profound respect for human life and the complexities of the healthcare systems and environment. I loved this environment, but I also knew it was time to grow. I then obtained my Family Nurse Practitioner degree and Board Certification and started my work in women’s health where I have been for the past decade. My transition into IFM My journey began when I realized the limitations of the Western Medicine approach I was practicing, where women were wanting, needing, and deserving so much more than I was able to give them in my 15-min office visit time slot (7 min face to face). I felt a calling to explore a more holistic and comprehensive approach to women's health, one that goes beyond the constraints of traditional healthcare models. It became clear to me that women deserve personalized care that addresses their unique needs and concerns, something I couldn't achieve in the brief office visits I was accustomed to. As I sought deeper understanding, the universe answered my call and led me to Integrative Family Medicine. This collaboration has allowed me to practice in a way that aligns with my values and beliefs, empowering women to embark on their paths to healing and wellness. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to be part of this transformative journey and to support women in reaching their highest potential in health and well-being. General Bio As a Nurse Practitioner with an integrative focus, I am passionate about providing holistic and personalized care to women at every stage of their lives. With a background in women’s health and nursing and a passion for holistic and integrative medicine, I combine traditional healthcare practices with alternative and complementary therapies to address the unique healthcare needs of women. My approach to women’s health focuses on treating the whole person - mind, body, and spirit. I believe in the importance of addressing not just the symptoms of a condition but also the underlying causes to promote long-term health and wellness. By combining evidence-based medicine with natural healing modalities, I strive to create individualized treatment plans that support women in achieving optimal health outcomes. In my practice, I emphasize the importance of a holistic approach to healthcare, including lifestyle modifications, nutrition, energy needs, spiritual needs, and stress management to promote overall well-being as part of your path to wellness. I work collaboratively with my patients to empower them to take an active role in their health and make informed decisions about their care. I am committed to providing compassionate, comprehensive, and integrative care to women of all ages, with a focus on promoting health, preventative disease, and supporting women on their journey to wellness. I am dedicated to helping women achieve balance and vitality in all aspects of their lives, and I am honored to be a partner in their healing journey. |
