Meet Danielle Fitch, PMHNP-BC: A Journey Through Mental Health
Hi there! I’m Danielle Fitch, and I’d love to share a bit about my journey. I started in healthcare at 19, working as a CNA in Iowa City. After moving back to Des Moines, I began nursing school at Mercy and worked at Mercy Hospital. Life threw me some curveballs, including struggling with undiagnosed ADHD and losing my hospital job. But I didn’t give up. In 2011, I dove into the Surgical Technologist program at DMACC and found my stride.
After working with Dr. Jeffrey Davick at Des Moines Orthopedic Surgeons, I was diagnosed with ADHD, which reignited my passion for healthcare. I returned to nursing school, balancing it with overnight shifts as a surgical tech at Methodist West Hospital’s OB unit. My experiences, including battling postpartum depression after having my daughter, Betty, solidified my desire to focus on mental health. |
I completed my Bachelor’s in Nursing in 2017, then pursued a Doctorate in Nursing Practice, specializing in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at the University of Iowa. I joined Integrative Family Medicine in September 2021, bringing my diverse background and personal insights into my practice.
