Dr Justin Janss lays out two very different morning scenarios in this most recent blog, he challenges us to experiment with our sleep and morning routines to yield benefits that last the rest of the day.

Let’s take a moment to reflect on two possible scenarios… The first is similar to the picture I painted last month. We wake up in the morning, irritated at the buzzing alarm. Throw in a couple (or 10) hits to the snooze button to soak in a few extra minutes of shut eye before our feet finally hit the floor and it's off to the races. We rush to the bathroom, then to the kitchen, frantically trying to throw the morning together, ultimately feeling like we are behind the eight ball, chasing our tail the whole rest of the day....

Tell me if this sounds familiar… We wake up in the morning to the buzz of an annoying alarm that jolts us out of bed. Before we can even wipe the sleep from our eyes, our mind has come up with 10 different versions of “I need more sleep,” “How am I still exhausted?”, or “It can’t really be time to get up yet.”

Anyone who has come to visit me at Sacred Health knows it doesn’t take long for us to approach the topic of sleep. I regularly refer to it as one of the foundational pillars of health, and far too often I see many of us NOT treating it that way. There are plenty of others who despite respecting and understanding the value of a good night’s rest, still find themselves incapable of getting enough restful ZZZs.
