Name a few of your favorite holiday traditions? I bet a few include some sort of food or snack. And another bet, it would not fall into any sort of “health food” category. And that is ok! Treats in moderation should be enjoyed, especially this time of year when food holds many memories and traditions. One way to counterbalance holiday treats is to keep your focus on whole foods when you can. This means knowing your event schedule this holiday season. Start your day with a healthy breakfast and lunch. Starting your day strong works in your favor when later in the day decision fatigue has set in. Making healthy choices when you are able will allow you the freedom to indulge in some of your holiday favorites. If your event includes bringing your own dish, trying bringing a fruit or veggie tray, or try your hand at the ever popular charcuterie boards filled with meats, cheeses, olives, fruit, nuts etc. These can allow for snacking on fewer processed foods, dishes, sides, and drinks. And remember food is meant to be enjoyed, just enjoy responsibly! |
