10/27/2021 Integrative Family Medicine of Iowa, disrupting the conventional medical treatment model, IV Vitamin & Nutrition Therapy | KaraRead NowEver wonder how IFM came to exist? Take some time and listen to our co-founder Kara on the Women in Wellness podcast this week, a podcast hosted by Stephanie Krubsack from Purevant Living. Kara speaks about her own personal health struggle in detail and how a trip to Costa Rica and undiagnosed Lyme’s Disease lead to a downward spiral in her health and her journey back to health for the past 8 years. Her own experience with chronic illness and integrative therapies allowed her to regain her health, but when she moved back to Iowa, none of these services existed for her to maintain her own health. So she started IFM and took the time to fulfill the need that this community needed. “We created a blue ocean…we are trying to change a mindset, but we aren’t competing for the typical primary care model. We are primary care with a twist, we are holistic care, and we collaborate with the holistic community that already exists.” Hear why IFM exists and why the IFM model is so desperately needed. She discusses her efforts to disrupt the conventional medical model and approach to ‘health’ care instead of ‘sick’ care. “We have this idea that you could see your provider 4 times a year on your journey to health… It is this process of shifting a mindset from selling sick care to selling well and healthy care.” She also details some of the signature services that IFM offers, such as the lifestyle approach to wellness, IV therapy and nutrition, and so much more.
