Mental health is such a vital part of our overall health, and monitoring it is as important as monitoring physical health. We’re understanding more about mental health all the time, and that goes for our kids, too.
Children often suffer with anxiety, ADHD, depression, OCD, and many other mental health conditions. Who do we turn to when our son or daughter says or does something that worries us? Where do we even start?
A great first option is to visit your primary care provider. They will be able to help put a name to the concerning behavior and get started on a plan to get your child feeling better. If the child needs medications, the primary care provider should be able to provide that service. Not all children need to see a psychiatrist or psychologist, but many times it will be recommended to see a therapist to help the child cope with what they are feeling.
As a parent, we want our kids to be the best that they can be. Let us help them on their journey!
