The definition of holistic is “the treatment of the whole person, taking into account mental and social factors, rather than just the symptoms of a disease”. It treats the parts of our bodies, physical, mental, social, and spiritual, as a single, interconnected whole.
Over the years, holistic health has been viewed as alternative or kooky. The traditional medical community has learned to treat our bodies as though they were a machine made of parts that work together, but is divorced from the nonphysical parts of us. In response, many of us have come to expect that kind of treatment, even when we feel diminished by it. It doesn’t have to be that way. At IFM, we see our patients not just as their disease, but as a complex whole individual. We get to know you, your family, your stressors. Regardless of the parts of our practice with which you are most comfortable, alternative or traditional, we look at you as a whole person and treat you with dignity. Our role in our patient-provider relationship is to guide you through decisions, offering you choices and advice along the way, and listening to your input.. As our patient, you can be assured that you will never feel like a number in a queue or a walking disease process; you will feel like the individual you are.

Holistic is a term that's often used in health and wellness circles, but it can be confusing to understand exactly what it means. Thank you for breaking it down and making it easy to understand
