We know we are one of many primary care providers in town. So why choose us? It’s simple: we offer a better experience than other offices. It starts with a longer appointment time as a new patient. As we were developing our concept for IFM, we read a study that primary care providers see each individual patient an average of 4 times per year, for a total of 17 minutes in that entire year. Not 17 minutes per visit. 17 minutes over the course of 4 visits. That’s just not the case here at IFM. You get a solid 30 minutes with your provider for your new patient appointment, and oftentimes, it runs longer than that because you need the time to feel valued and to feel heard. This longer appointment time establishes a trusting relationship with you and your provider. Your provider understands you as a person and your medical history. From that foundation, we continue to build a trusting relationship through prompt communication and our friendly atmosphere in the office. At your appointment, your provider will discuss traditional treatment options for your concerns as well as integrative therapies. While we are conventionally trained medical providers, we incorporate integrative, complementary, and alternative therapies for patients because we know what it takes to get you feeling better, faster. For instance, for patients with anxiety we discuss the treatment options of a medication that may take 6 weeks to see any effects, supplements that can be taken to assist with overall mood and to reduce anxiousness, and we discuss our Alpha-Stim device that works after one treatment of twenty minutes. It is then left to the patient to decide their treatment choice(s) in coordination with their provider. We know these are not the typical treatment options offered by every office in town, but that’s what you get here. This approach has you feeling better, faster. We have a lot of options and you won’t leave empty handed. Many patients ask us, what is integrative medicine? The Andrew Weil Integrative Medicine Center (yes, that Dr. Weil…) describes it as: Integrative Medicine (IM) is healing-oriented medicine that takes account of the whole person, including all aspects of lifestyle. It emphasizes the therapeutic relationship between practitioner and patient, is informed by evidence, and makes use of all appropriate therapies. If you haven’t heard us say it yet, we’ll say it again: IFM treats people, not conditions. Integrative medicine is essentially a philosophy and a way of practicing medicine to treat you as a whole person, incorporating all of your history and lifestyle, in order to make the best decision (guided by evidence and expertise) to assist you on your health journey. We are a bridge between primary care and functional medicine and truthfully, we knew this city needed a place like us to bridge that gap. We saw too many patients left with unanswered questions, abandoned in their course of treatment because they didn’t follow the provider’s recommendation, and so many patients incorporating alternative treatments that their providers don’t include in the overall treatment plan. So we ask you, what’s stopping you from becoming your best self? It’s easy to book an appointment with us to get started on your health journey. We are a judgement free office and we will meet you where you’re at and give you individualized care to guide you on your path. Choose different. Choose better. You made a good point when you discussed that integrative medicine considers all aspects of lifestyle. My friend wants to opt for the appropriate therapy for his condition. I should advise him to look for an integrative medicine center with positive reviews from patients.
